Following the UEFA Champions League group stage match between Benfica (Portugal) and Qarabağ (2:3), our head coach Gurban Gurbanov shared his thoughts. The experienced specialist assessed the game at the post-match press conference:
“First of all, I congratulate my players. We won with a very good performance. Today we could have also lost, because at the beginning of the match we were two goals behind. Turning the game around was not easy. But the players’ confidence, their determination not to give up, and the first goal we scored helped us achieve victory. This is the first-ever win in the Champions League both for our club and for Azerbaijani football. On this occasion, I congratulate the entire people of Azerbaijan.”
